What an eventful week

So due to the terios needing some time in the bodyshop to make good some paint defects I have been relegated to the defender all week. Initially to give it a shake down after fitting a new radiator because of it trying to boil on the way to and from market. This went quite well but it really did highlight just how bloody uncomfortable a 90 pickup is for any journey over half an hour both in terms of the chiropractic damage it inflicts and also in terms of the auditory assault on ones nerves, couple that to not having either air conditioning or heated mirrors and a heater with the efficacy of an asthmathic ant trying to blow out an oil rig fire, and these last few foggy mornings have been a trial. But anyway it still has a certain charm and the stereo isn't half bad so I start to let it grow on me a bit until Thursday. Thursday oh Thursday what a day was Thursday. half way through dropping by a friends house with a trailer of logs the bloody thing turns itself off and won't restart and then I see smoke from under the bonnet, then I find the turbo hose is on FIRE and I'm stuck in the middle of a suburban street with non of my usual familiar things to hand. Git. Anyway I saved the day put out the fire before it really took, got it to run finished my job and nursed the nasty British hunk of junk home where I found a permanent live wire had rubbed through and shorted on the starter solenoid, brilliant bit of design and cunningly hidden to boot. Anyhoo I finally got swapped back into the jimny today and boy does it feel great, quiet, comfortable and responsive, what a thing! It could take months to get over the trauma the last week has inflicted but in the meantime I have a jimny to smooth my days!

Asthmatic ant! I love defenders but you are right a jimny does feel nice to drive. Glad I own one.
