Lawnmower oil? was created by Grego
I have a couple of petrol mowers that desperatly need servicing. They use sae30 oil but is this the same as 5w/30 fully synth oil...got loads of that stuff as I use it in the Jim and 2 others and buying the proper stuff in handy 500ml cans is gobsmackingly expensive as I would need three...each mower holds 600ml in the sump
Anybody know if its ok to use?

Had a search for an hour or so but still non the wiser
Think I saw somewhere that Briggs and Stratton used to recommend sae30 but now recommend 5w30
Another few hours searching should sort it :S

I had a quick search some people say not to use fully synthetic oil on old engines ( don't know how old yours are) people seem to use 10w/30 or 5w/30 but it's just what I saw when having a quick look it was on

They will do well on any oil. Just put in the 5W/30 and it will be fine.
