Those Mahindras have very little in common with an original Willys Jeep. Imagine a diesel engine that makes more noise than power bolted to two lengths of railway track and sat on the leaf springs from a 10 ton lorry and you're not far off! Luckily most of them have rusted away.
I've been thinking about using a Jimny as a platform for a Willys Jeep style kit car. In terms of length, width and wheelbase it measures up quite well. The biggest issue is a modern 16v engine is about 2 feet taller than the side valve in the Willys, so keeping the Jimny engine would mean the bonnet height would be miles off.

That would be great busta! I can see the tall engine would be a problem not the easiest thing to conceal lol.

Funny enough I did always fancy one & came very close a few years back to buying it only to find out is was being saved for a relative ...
I'm an old 'biker' and to me the 'Jimny' is about as close as I can get to that fun feeling I had back then without being out in all the elements .....
