need help from a mot tester was created by idiotmobil
Got my van going in for mot early next week and today the reverse light have started playing up and staying on sometimes are they needed for mot, I thought not, I mite get them done if the new switch gets here in time but if not ill pull the plug on the switch and stick it in with out them

Pm markeyp he will put y rite dont think i remember them checking mine last MOT to be honest
Just googled it and most off what is on there says no not a MOT faliure but does say some places that the rozzers can fine you dont understand that but there you go

put a torch in the glove box if he says you need them then blind him with your mobile reversing light beam :laugh:

I got a spot light in the back I mite go wire up one more on the rear and use that as a reverse light be handy for fishing etc as well

MOT test only covers obligatory lighting i.e sidelights, headlamps, indicators (inc side repeaters), stoplights and rear fogs. Anything else would be an advisory if working incorrectly.
You'd be better off temporarily disconnecting the switch until you can get a replacement. My switch failed a long time ago, so I simply wired up some switches inside for a rear mounted spot, interior mounted spot (on a swivel) that can be used if the rear door is open and the original reverse lamps. Just make sure you put warning lamps in so you don't blind anyone behind you.
