I will never fully understand insurance. My main car is a 370Z and costs me just under four hundred fully comp with 15 years no claims. Recently added my Jimny to the policy and it costs just over three hundred (almost as much) because my no claims only applies to the car on the original policy, the Zee. I have to start building up the no claims on the Jimny now. Tried explaining to the insurance co. that I can only drive one at a time, but no progress. I thought the no claims reflected on the persons overall driving record and not tied to the car on the policy.

Try giving Brentacre a call, they have sorted my insurance a few times, I presently have 7 years NCB active on my BMW, when quoting on a second car for me they took in to consideration that I have the NCB and mirrored this discount for me! I just needed my present insurer to send a letter confirming how many years NCB I provided proof of when starting the policy.

Note this does not then translate to 7 years NCB on the new policy however, you start a fresh with it and build up a new NCB however it saved me a lot on money, they are all car guys also so know what they are talking about when it comes to modifications etc.

I've been quoted similar for my 17 year old daughter, in fact it was one of the cheapest vehicles I could find, much to her pleasure!!!

Provisional or full licence?
Twin daughters 17 both insured to drive Pug 207, provisional while learning £550 all in.
After they passed, both on the same day thankfully, just before 18th one daughter £900 for Pug and second £1400 for Jimny, first daughter was policy holder so had NCB 2nd didn't. Both have trackers fitted by insurance company which reduces premium.

On the 8th Day God made the LandRover -
On the 9th day he swapped it for a Jimny.
