Those of you who follow this site will know that I sell some quite sturdy and strong steering damper kits. However, these are not really aimed at the budget user.

Therefore I have had these budget versions made up. These bolt onto the steering rods as normal but then, instead of having a bracket that bolts to the chassis, you simply open up an existing hole in the tie down bracket and secure the damper to that.

You will need to purchase the damper itself, I used a Land Rover Discovery Series 1 Steering Damper available from Ebay.

The angle that the steering damper mounts at is quite acute, but as this is the method used by the "professional kits" then its good enough for me!

This cures "lane wander" and firms up the steering nicely, its surprising that something similar was not fitted as standard as it improves the steering no end, note that it is not a cure for "Death Wobble".
