Reading a lot about taking these off for off road use. Given I drive to my events and back this doesn’t particularly appeal? Did all generations of SJ’s have anti roll bars? Or was it a late model feature. I’d be more comfy to know the factory had shipped them without a bar.
Alternatively I wonder about a disconnectable one. I see a kick for a jimny to do this. Anyone tried it on an SJ?

They really aren't that bad on the road without them. I ran mine without one for years. Slightly more body roll but hey actually ride a lot better over bumps without them.

They'll say pay us more money and it's fine, because that's all they really care about. Before you ask about removing it, you should ask if they know your car has one in the first place.

My 84 SJ 410 does not have a roll bar. All my other SJ from 85 and later do have one. .

Is there much difference in the road handling? I’m on OME lift springs and Muds so I can’t imagine it’s going to have much if anything in the way of vehicle dynamics…

I took mine off my S3 a couple of years ago after it started snapping the mounting bracket off the axle. And then repeatedly snapping so I was being left with more weld than bracket.
I don't race around anywhere but I really didn't notice any difference on road.
I suspect it's an MOT failure if the MOT man notices. So don't go leaving nice clean sections of chassis where you unbolted it!

I don't have any issues with removing of ARBs.
Although anti roll will also be down to the spring and damper setup. Assuming the setup is quite flexy, I find it baffling that people say they can't notice a difference on road....
