Hi advice needed

Just fitted entire new exhaust to my 2001 Jimny pickup.
Including cat and sensor .

1) Having torqued all connections per manual in true aftermarket form I have a slight blow between the down pipe and link pipe. Does anyone know if jointing paste is advisable on this joint as fitted with stainless crushable gasket.(birds nest type)

2)Back box sits at slight oddball angle with tail pie angled slightly down causing box to bang on cross member near rubbermounts. Any thoughts on twisting this without resulting to oxy on the link pipe

Martin had this issue I'm sure not so long back worth having a search, however I think he reversed the 'stainless crushable gasket' refitted & all was well .........

ok action plan - bite the bullet

tomorrow storms permitting removing the link pipe and gently
refettling the box end flange think welded on a few mm out so some light tapping should sort .
As for the box exit pipe I think it was just welded on at the wrong angle so can live with that
Hopefully when refitting the downpipe gasket may just work like Martins we'll see.

Thanks guys

Bought all exhaust as a package but came with no box gasket ? when I phoned and asked they said no gasket needed.
Ive been playing with cars and boats for 45+ years and I haven't seen the perfect ungasketed joint yet.
So got one off the internet.
I must say the 'birds nest gaskets' that came did not seem as substantial as the ones on the factory pipe!

I always use exhaust assembly paste on every joint. It won't do any harm, and seems pretty effective and getting a good seal first time.

Yep that's the one, like a metal O ring, bit bigger than 50p piece.

Just been out and disconnected my back box! will need to get another gasket as flange angle has caused this one to completely flatten on one side.

Tomorrow is another day
