Brake pipes? was created by Smoggy
I know this is something of a generic mechanical question but what is the best way to future-proof my fuel and brake lines. The surface coating appears to be flaking but there is no evidence of rust. I was wondering whether to lightly sand them then give em a good coating of underseal but not sure. Any tips as always greatly appreciated guys.

Silly question Marky but how do I go about powder coating them without removing them or will I have to take them off to have it done.

takeing them off it the only way for that but if you have the fuel tank out you can do that or replace them for copper pipe as that wont rust and will probs out last the car paint them before fitting the copper ones then once thay are fitted cover them in grease every now and then

Yep on reflection Marky I think I am gonna have a go at re-doing them all in copper. I have the flaring/bending tools, it looks easy to manipulate and cheap - just £12 for 25ft, enough to do the whole Jimny :)

Some of the ebay advertised sets even come with a quantity of fittings 10x 10mm male and 10x 10mm female. Just gotta check how many and which type I need before I order them.

Hi mate dont quote me on this but I think I have read some where that the Jimny male and female ends on the break pipes are specific to the Jimny not a generic size just check before you order any?????

Thanks
James

Hey Marky, I notice in your blurb that you have removed your antiroll bar. Do you have any probs at MOT time. I removed mine cos I had to chop out my original crossmember and replace it with a section of 100mm x 50mm 3mm steel box and was too much chew to re-attach it.
