Jimny Diff ratios was created by fordy103
So, ive been told that apparently the automatic jimny, or a late manual vvt jimny has shorter diff ratios than a none vvt Jimny.

So, anything newer than 2006 has better diffs than the old ones. ( for off roading anyways)

Can anybody confirm this?

James

If you change the r&p of a non vvt jimny with the r&p of a vvt jimny you will have a -17% low ratio.

You can run tires 235-75-15 with no problem.

It wont be like having a rocklobster but it will seems like a mini rocklobster(410 t-case).

It is tested and works great.

Also you can find from japan spec. jimny with 11/45 diff ratio and do the same.

So, if having a 2002 non-VVT, I can install VVT ring&pinion gears into my diffs and get a -17% reduction? Or is it the other way around ?

the number is how many times the pinion (ie propshaft) goes round for one turn of the crownwheel (ie wheels) so a bigger number means that the wheels go slower= lower geared.

When we say "lower gear ratio", we actually mean higher to go slower!

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)

'98-'05(change over year) had 4.11 diff's. '05-to current has 4.3 diffs. The difference between the 2 ratio's is about 6% from my research.
