Wow! I'm a fabricator by trade, and we don't have any machines like that. Technology, CNC and progress, roll on evolution!!!!

Looks like there is some heat involved as there is some
discolouration in the steel and they go to take it with a rag
or something .

I wonder, when they first got it, did they try and do everyday items - paper clips, coat hangers, one of the electric buzzer games everyone had as a kid??? Surely they must have made something novelty!!!

That is wicked.
When my father left Heavy engineering 30 years ago, they had some wicked robot welding and ring milling equipment (they produced turbine blades for the rolls royce Olympus 201, 301, TM3B & 593 Engines (Vulcan, Concorde & Marine Turbines)).
