Update:

Thanks to Richard for coming up from Southampton on Tuesday evening. We fitted the recovery point and noted a number of deficiencies in the design (basically I have been using a non-standard Jimny to estimate a couple of measurements). So the bad news for Richard is that he went away empty handed on Tuesday. However, the ability to get out a tape measure and see it on a "real" Jimny was invaluable and I believe the second attempt will be good. Hopefully a second prototype will be with Richard very soon and we will be able to go into production shortly afterwards.

I also have some parts arriving in the post today to make up a prototype steering damper kit. This has the advantage that I will be able to test it on my own car this time as the fitment is pretty standard. This is blatantly based on the home made variations you have seen successfully shown on this site and will be a simple bolt on complete set of parts to achieve the desired result.

We also managed to confirm how a front recovery point will fit so I will be getting around to prototyping this.

I have been given a second prototype but unfortunately it was made wrong, awaiting a 3rd prototype now!

I've seen those before. I'm not sure what martins look like but those ones (especially the lower one) can't be used on standard trucks. I worked out how much they would cost to be shipped from Japan and i could have had some made up locally for a third of the cost at least. When i took measurements though the bumper is in the way and if you made them longer you'd lose a lot of strength. The basic idea is there but needs a bit of tweaking.

Black Jimny's don't get stuck!

That last one is the style of design I am looking at but you are 100% correct, it doesn't fit standard trucks and when you make it long enough it is weaker.

However, there is a design in progress, but its not easy as I do not have a standard Jimny myself
