This is the CORRECT socket to use for removing the Gearbox, Transfer Box and Differential oil filler and drain plugs.
Yes, you can try a 3/8" socket driver but remember that 3/8" is 9.5mm NOT 10mm. This increases the likelyhood of stripping the internals of the drain/filler plug
This 10mm socket is a very tight fit, reducing the chances of damaging the plug. You may have to:
1. Thoroughly clean the plug before using the tool, ensure all mud is removed and "wash out" with something like WD40
2. You may have to gently tap the tool into place, particularly if previous damage or distortion has occurred in the plug.
This socket fits a 1/2" drive wrench. It fits Internal 10mm Squared plugs.
