Hi, my 2000 jimny cut out today after running a bit rough, the dash warning light with the car and a padlock came ( left side of instruments) , it started again after a few minutes. I cant seem to find what the warning light means - any idea ?
Thanks in advance

Try the spare key if you got one. could be the chip inside the key lost its adress in the ecu or the antenna and amplifier beside the ingnition lock is bad.
there is no stand alone immobilizer on these cars, it is integrated in the ecu. could also be the printboard in the dash cluster that has some malfunction. after swapping my dashboard cluster for other reasons I have not had to reprogram the immo-chips to the ecu anymore.

(edit: and the battery oin the key fob (if you have one) has nothing to do with this it is just a door lock remote. The immo-chip does not need a battery, it is a RFID kind of thing.)
