Fuel tank and range indicator

Hi,
My 2022 GLX M/T shows 2 blocks on the fuel level indicator, and gets down to around 64km on the range indicator... and stays there, and invariably when refuelling, only takes around 30/31 litres?

Am I alone here or is this common?

My 2018 puts the yellow light on at one block and will usually take around 36 or 37 litres if I left it that long.

I calculated that when the orange light comes on I have about 1.5 gallons left in the tank, so have gone another 40 miles before filling up. That was based on the tank average of 42mpg.

Thanks Lambert and Soeley, I have not yet seen the yellow/orange light as I fill at 2 blocks with the range eventually getting down to around 25-30 km?
not comfortable not knowing, perhaps I should run her dry with a spare can in the back.

The fuel tank is 40L, so always assuming the gauge is linear and accurate (big assumption) 2 blocks left out of 10 would suggest 8L (1.7 UK Gallons), that agrees with Soeley's experience and when you fill up with 31L.

Not sure how many miles per litre you get, but if the range indicator shows 64Km, that is 8Km/L which is probably not far off.

Every vehicle I have owned with a 'digital' fuel gauge or miles remaining has gone down to zero and there is still another 10-15 miles (15-25Km) left, but I don't like to risk it unless I am close to home.

It is not a good idea to run a tank dry, apart from the fact that the deposits in the fuel sink to the bottom of the tank, if the pump runs dry it can sometimes take a bit to get it to fill again or you can get a vapour trap.

The Gen 4 fuel light comes on when there is 6l left in the tank. The last block starts to flash when there is 4l left.
