Winch grease was created by Roger Fairclough
I always used a marine grade waterproof grease. You can get some from a chandlers.

Yokohama Geolanders, Sony head unit, NAUTILUS Air Horn, DRL conversion, Rear cargo space, Elvis Bobblehead, transfer Guard, Indian hanging Elephant, Koni Heavy track dampers, Custom SS exhaust, Voodoo Doll, Adventure Rack with LED ight bar, vintage ERIBA caravan usually attached (yes it's slow)

As Roger said a waterproof grease is a good idea, but if it's on gearbox or roller bearing components select the lithium EP grease which s better in these applications. If you go a chandlers avoid stern tube grease which is for plain bearing applications.
