Driver side footwell was created by PandaJimmy
Hi all.

New to the Jimny scene. 00 with 197k miles.

Cleaning the inside yesterday, 1st time scince I bought it 3weeks ago I noticed the carpet in the drivers footwell was damp. I've gone through the bits that I found on line - windscreen drain off, back wiper hose, heater index rubber bungs - all to no avail. It doesn't seem to be coming from anywhere in the front. I have the carpet up and the water is coming from under the driver seat. I've had the carpet up in the back and it's dry.

Anyone have ideas of what this is from? She's not gone off road or through any puddles. It has been raining but the rest of the car is bone dry. This is coming from the bottom up.

I've attached a pic of where the water is coming from.

Thanks
Andrew

There is a join on the pipe going to the rear screen wash under the driver seat. Maybe take the seat out and have a better look. If thats broken it would explain the water (even if the rear screenwash isnt used).

Cheers mate. Didn't go any further as there is water coming out the the back window. Might be easier to disconnect altogether and plug the hose in the footwell. Not overly concerned about having the rear screen wash....

Easiest place to disconnect it would be at the screenwash bottle under the bonnet. It will need plugged or all your screenwash will piss out where the pipe was removed.

If you were really bothered you could get a screenwash bottle from a convertible, which only has one pump in it for the front screen.

Thanks bud. Have that disconnected now, disconnected at back door and drained hose too. Fingered crossed that does the trick.

Now to find out why there's only hot air coming out the air vents constantly - but that for another day and another thread.

Once dry, sprinkle some talc around the area its a bit messy but if it happens again it will leave a trail so you track it better, that's what I done and found it coming from the passenger side corner of the windscreen were auto screen hadn't sealed a new screen properly :)

The cable end has been kicked off the actuator on the heater under the dashboard

Is that a take off the dash job, or is it accessible from the footwell?

Easy access, under the centre of the dash.

With one person altering the controls the other looks underneath and sees which part is not moving properly

OK update on soggy footwell, rear screenwash is working and the water thats is there is not coolant water or screenwash - I tasted it:)

i pulled off the plastic shroud between the bonnet and windscreen and checked the drains were clear and powerhosed them to be safe, all seems to drain behind the front wheel.

Can anyone recommend anything else to try?
