Hi guys, I'm new to this forum and I'm wondering if anyone can answer this question for me? I'm in the middle of a Jimny G13BB to Baleno G16B engine conversion both engines are 1999. The G13BB's cam is 11 lugs whilst the G16B is 2 ... The G13BB has a cam sensor but no crank sensor and the G16B has both cam & crank sensors ... I've done the sump thing & blocked the Crank sensor hole. Okay here's the question, the advice I'm reading is to use the 11 lug cam from the G13BB and not the 2 lug cam as standard on the G16B I have. The G16B cam is meant to have more torque/grunt than the 11 lug G13BB cam? I'm reading the G13BB cam evidently can't rev as high as the 16 and there seems a trade off to use it in the G16B. .. Now I'm a backyarder and this might be right out of field but if the Baleno 1.6 engine runs with it's better cam than why can't I just change the Jimny ECU and replace it with the Baleno one as to not change the cams? Any detailed feedback will be greatly appreciated .. Kind regards Steve

First off it wouldnt start with another ecu as it does not respond with the ignition key

No tradeoff or anything if you do it right.. and that's swapping the 11 lug ring with 2 lug ring. Use a bearing puller of some sort. And remember to mark everything.

Thanks Tom & Mads, between the two of you is sorted! ... Never thought about the ignition key & the obvious workaround swapping the cam rings ... thanks again Steve
