The other side rebuilt -
And a steering damper added...
New drain and filler plugs, and the diff filled with oil...
And sat on the floor I couldn't help but think, "was it worth it...?", a lot of work just to regear it for the bigger tyres...
And then I went for a test drive... my Dad had been in the shop the night before asking if I could get him some Grenadine for a cocktail he wanted to make... I couldn't see any listed from my supplier (Booker as we're a Londis) so I googled and found it at Asda... so the test drive was to Asda on the coast at Kinmel Bay, and then inland to my Dad's thatched cottage just outside Denbigh, so a nice mixture of roads...
Awesome! imagine a cross between a hot-hatch and a little 4x4...! Accelerates fantastically, and then tootles along keeping up with the traffic, even at dual-carriageway speeds. The steering is nice and tight thanks to the rebuild with copper shims and the addition of the steering damper... I fitted an Armstrong damper with the bigger of the brackets I sell as ZookBOB, the TerraFirma damper just seemed a bit of an overkill for a road-going daily runaround...
Well chuffed with it, big smile on my face
Just needs...?
A lightbar on the roofrack to finish it off
And I'm still in two minds whether it needs a (Safari) snorkel...?
But, it's about "finished" anyways...

Yup. thanks Dan, I was a bit pissed off at how long it all took, the transfer box and rear diff weren't too bad, but the front diff was a pain, rusty seized bolts, so I did a minor rebuild in the end, knowing it would then be good for a few years, but it was a pain using Irwin nut-busters for most of the bolts, and then replacing them all as I rebuilt...
But, yes, the end results are worth it...!
I'll have to try a local 'lane or two next and see how the offroad gearing is..!
