4WD issue on 4H and 4L only. was created by kylep1
Hi Guys,
I'm from Malta and ive been into Zooks for quite some time had an SJ a couple of years ago and now i own a trusty 1 owner jimny (jap import). im waiting for my lift kit and next week im changing wheel bearings and timing belt (G13BB).
Was wondering if anyone encountered this issue im running a standard 1.3L Petrol G13BB engine with a 5 speed manual transmission. When driving on the road hence 2wd all is fine but when i shift it to 4wd either High or low it does not matter, All 4 wheels tend to lock like when you have a set of lockers or lsd and when i steer slowly and drive forward both wheels turn together like a welded diff. im running on vacum hubs. any clue of what the issue can be maybe anyone knows before i start dismantling my axles. my previous owner never engaged the 4wd and i doubt if there is any oil in the front diff but im changing it on Monday.
Cheers,
Kyle

Replied by wombat on topic 4WD issue on 4H and 4L only.
If you are using 4wd on dry tarmac you will wind the transmission up as there is no centre diff fitted, which would give the symptons you have described. 4wd should only be used in slippery conditions so the difference in slip between the wheels will prevent wind up
