Persistent squeaking was created by rayz_x
Have had my '57 plate Jimny about 2 months - it has done less than 25k. It has just developed a very persistent squeak. The noise starts after about 5 miles driving and is high pitched and like a wheelbarrow at high speed. It is worse on uneven road surfaces. Doesn't sound louder when I open windows so it seems to be transferred through the floor. Only solution so far is to turn up CD player.
Any suggestions much appreciated.

hi, had my jimny a while but had only done 28000 miles when bought and still under warranty. same problem with same symptons.the dealer had it back several times and changed the o/s/f bearing, kingpins, and automatic hub. this cured the fault for 2 months but it was then out of warranty so i just put up with it. shortly after the noise stopped and has not happened since, and has now covered 70000 miles.hope this helps :cheer:

If anyone else gets this problem I may have an answer. I googled around a lot and found a suggestion on a South African website. Apparently it could be the bonnet and the solution is to turn the rubber stops up a bit until it stops squeaking. I tried this and the noise hasn't come back since.

I don't believe it!!! I've had what I believed to be my suspension squeaking for months now. Just twisted the rubber bonnet bump stops out a bit and silence ensued !!! Massively impressed. No laborious garage visits and precisely no pounds spent. Made my day. Cheers boys.
