Diff plug tool was created by Calg
Hi
I need to top up my front diff after a kingpin bearing replacement and don't want to use a 3/4 ratchet in the plug as its slightly loose- if it can be rounded or stripped I'm the man to do it
Searched on eBay and online and can't find a thing ?
What does everyone else use ?
Thanks

If your ratchet is ratshit, what about your extension bars?

I use one of these and it is a very good fit.

As MWells post, the plug needs a 10mm square, a 3/8" ratchet is a loose fit (9.5mm).

You can buy sets of drain plug tools, but if someone has previously attacked it with a 3/8 ratchet, you will find that the 10mm doesn't work either.

The best solution is the correct tool, and a set of replacement plugs.

Some of us chisel them out carefully, and then weld a hexagon bar onto the plug.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)

Thing I will order that 10mm square socket - thanks for the link.
I got a fair few tools and tried a few no joy. Not got a welder either unfortunately.
A friend had a fourtrak and the diff plugs on that are crap as well. Must be a Japanese thing.
Thanks

I ought to buy a proper socket but what I have been doing is putting my biggest set of mole grips round the outside to undo it and using a ratchet to do it back up - as it doesn't need as much umph to do up.

Edit: Just bought one from the link above £14.07 though with postage!!! Did it anyway as I've not been able to find one in ages and if I don't buy now I never will and will have to keep buying new diff plugs! So prob cheaper in the long run!
