Changing front wheel bearings was created by 4wheelers
Hi all,
I am after some advice. I attempted to change my wheel bearings over the weekend and had no luck shifting the retaining rings. I used the correct tool and a 2 foot length of pipe on the end of a breaker bar! As I had no luck I drowned the area in wd40 and put back together for now. Am planning another stab at it this weekend.
Has anyone else had troubles removing the retaining rings?

Yeah, 4ft length of pipe on the end of a breaker bar did it for me.

I am replacing my hubs to the manual type as well this weekend so I was thinking maybe I won't need to be as gentle with the locking rings.

Have you bent back the inner edge of the locking ring where it is bent into the key on the shaft? It is bent it to lock it in place and if you have not bent it out then you are fighting the locking tab as well as the tightness of the lonking ring itself

Yes I have bent the tab out. I have had some luck with the passenger side today. The drivers side looks like it has never been off before and there was quite a lot of gunk and growth around the lock ring. Have now drowned it in more wd40 and fingers crossed might budge on the next attempt.
