Please can any one give me an idea how to remove ignition barrel from steering column without removing the whole column.
key is very worn and will not turn lock .
nothing mentioned in any of the manuals that I have. only how to remove the steering lock assembly once column has been removed.

My manual says the same and looking at the process which involves punching out the bolts I guess that this can only be done on the work bench.

If you read on through the guide when you replace the bolts you have to tighten them until they shear. I guess this is part of the security for the lock ie. the bolts are arranged to be an interference fit, the heads are designed to shear so they cannot be undone in the normal sense, only driven out with a punch which requires a level of access not available with the column in place.
