Do Vitara seats fit a Gen 4 was created by Jonesie
Afternoon Jimers,

Finding the JB74 seats quite uncomfortable, are Vitara seats any better and do the fit ?

I thank you.

I don't know what fits, but I agree they are really bad, completely solid and the seat base is the wrong shape, the gen 3 was like a feather bed in comparison.

I am considering getting an upholsterer to whip the base cover off and put something better inside.

At the moment I am driving it sat on an eggshell foam cushion, which is more comfortable, and smooths out the bumps too, but it makes my legs a bit too close to the steering wheel rim

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)

We are all in agreement then but the donor motor I am looking at is the Swift Sport. I have sat in one and it is heaps better, decent side support and with a comfy seat and shoulder support. The dealer is 1K away so in the next few days a trip will be scheduled for a measure up. I will keep you informed.

There seems to be a definite divide on Gen4 seat comfort. Some find them awful some not. I myself am very happy with the seat comfort and many a time I have spent nearly a full day in it. I have driven up to Dumfries & Galloway, 3 1/2  hour drive with no problems at all. As well as doing full day of driving and laning.

I don't know if the seats have changed since they came out (mine is Jan 2019, so early model) or whether it is just body forms that are different?

I'm also happy with the seats in my sz5 although I think the construction of them is poor as our commerical jimny is having to have a new seat fitted as its beyond repair. I do find the commercial slightly more uncomfy than my sz5 as I prefer the seats further back for my driving.

I'm a bit of both, I find them comfortable even on seriously long journeys, but have found I'm getting sciatica-type pain down my left side. Unsure if it's the seats or just me getting older.

Considering saving up to replace the driver's seat with a Recaro Ergomed, but they're ridiculous amounts of money.
