I would say it doesn't look too bad which probably means it's going to be worse when things start being removed cleaned and inspected properly. It really depends on if you are capable of doing it yourself to a reasonable standard or if you are paying someone to do it for you?

Take a look under most Jimnys of a few ears old and they will show a certain amount of rust. At least it wasn’t bad enough to be a failure, either serious or minor and apart from the front structure all the other parts would be relatively easy to replace.

However, parts and labour all add up, so what’s the rest of the car like?

If it drives okay and you have nothing to do for a few months, it might be okay, but you can reckon on having to do something before next MOT and preferably do some rust treatment, paint and under seal before sooner rather than later to stop it getting worse.

You might also want to check the MOT history at the government website, you just need the number/registration plate.

For that price you can't be too fussy. No it's not pretty but I've seen a lot worse on newer Jimnys that people have paid a lot of money for!
