Is this also relevant to the earlier version in the gen3?

Just a thought, could too high a tyre pressure make it worse? Tyres bouncing on the surface too much and not conforming to the undulations?
19,000 miles in my Gen4 and not had this issue.

Is it the same problem as in this video? I once had a 2003 GEN3 with an overzealous ABS which used to kick in when braking on uneven ground or man holes.

I had similar problem with my 2019 Gen4 when exiting the local Coles Car Park:
A big gum tree next to the driveway, it's shadow across drive in front of the Jimny, it would almost stop the car, adding much confusion to the car behind.
As for tyre pressures, I found 23psi to be the best for me with no load.
I have since returned the car (other issues) and bought a Volvo!

Yes, that is what it is doing. Thankfully guard rails do not trigger it in wifes vehicle, but it has a real hair trigger for bumps on bitumen. The vehicle is a manual and has been fitted with AT tyres. It was doing it with the standard tyres as well.
Thgnks for all the replies.

ESP can be turned off, but it reactivates at 30kph (+-18mph).
I would check tyre pressures. After market shocks should also improve the situation.

2wd is fine (or should be), it isn't high speed and just a bit of float/movement on the stubble. But not excessive.300bhpton.
Just to even things up.
If you are getting wheel spin in 2WD , maybe you should be in 4WD!

Sorry to harp on about this but using 4 wheel drive effectively halves the load on each axle and in low range reduces the load on the clutch.

Halfshafts maybe, although 4 wheels not spinning might be more stress than 2 wheels lightly spinning. Anyhow my Series 3 Land Rover was 100% fine in 2wd in the fields and it becomes a pita and a pain if you are buzzing in and out of fields and onto roads to have to keep switching to 4wd. Especially when you have tractors and Land Rovers infront/behind you that don't need too.
It also stops you having a bit of fun, where some wheelspin and sliding is perfectly safe.

It should be possible to diagnose if it is, such as be further away from the road edge or see if it happens in both directions.
Also, do you have buttons 6 & 7? Might be worth turning them off one at a time and seeing if it changes the results.

Having just watched the video that is something different. It isn't the ABS or the road surface, not even the ESP. It is the collision avoidance system. Not sure if this is what the Autocar article also talked about or not. Or even if this is what the op is experiencing. Is it the same problem as in this video? I once had a 2003 GEN3 with an overzealous ABS which used to kick in when braking on uneven ground or man holes.

Button 7, the lane departure warning can be switched off permanently.
Button 6, The dual sensor brake support can be deactivated each time you start up but reverts to off when you switch off.

300bhpton.
Imagine trying to start off in 3rd gear. Yes it's possible but the time the clutch is slipping is a lot longer than starting in first and this generates heat and excess wear.
Now try it in 1st gear low range and you will note the shorter length of time the clutch is slipping. Less slip less wear.
