I remember many years ago a friend of mine use to race a Lada Riva,  he had shoe horned a Rover V8 engine under the bonnet, he took great delight at burning off the hot hatches at the lights..:D

Lambert, yours has a 1.3L engine and the one featured in the article a lawn mower engine (660cc).

It's ride height is about right to cut the grass.

Aye but it's got a turbo so it's only about 20 hp behind assuming they haven't tweaked it.

I must admit I don't get it.
it's now no good at the off road stuff and still not much better at racing, so it's now poor at everything.
Still, could be saved with a rear mounted V8 tuned beyond all reason.

Yokohama Geolanders, Sony head unit, NAUTILUS Air Horn, DRL conversion, Rear cargo space, Elvis Bobblehead, transfer Guard, Indian hanging Elephant, Koni Heavy track dampers, Custom SS exhaust, Voodoo Doll, Adventure Rack with LED ight bar, vintage ERIBA caravan usually attached (yes it's slow)

The point? For me it's the engineering challenge of working out just what is actually required to be effective. It's also about built not bought, there is no bolt on kit for a racing Jimny just like there is nothing for an off road Audi tt off the shelf, it's doable but requires thought and effort and a bit of talent. There's an entire industry devoted to making off road stuff for Jimny so it becomes a case of how big is your cheque book or you end up taking the angle grinder to the body to make a unique one and having a LOT of time and money in a vehicle you can't put back to standard easily. Dave, Riccy, Keithy, Sniper etc to name a few know exactly what I mean about the itch to engineer something different and special. As to why I stopped where I did with Dreadnaught, simply she is a daily and has her duties on the farm, if not then she would now have a turbo 'busa motor, no interior, an internal cage, some very nice remote reservoir adjustable suspension, be rear drive only, have a limited slip diff and most importantly a trailer to ride about on.
