Hi all,

I have a problem in that my automatic transmission Jimny stalls frequently when I begin to accelerate. Sometimes this can be avoided if I leave it to drive itself for a couple of seconds and then press the pedal heavily. Otherwise it stalls maybe once a day or so.

I've struggled to get a garage to look at it as they don't much fancy the idea of a Jimny. Otherwise it's a long wait.

Does this sound like spark plugs? Or maybe the fuel sensor?

Hi
Don't understand your garage, the Jimny is no different, if anything it's simpler.

Does it stall or hesitate if you accelerate the engine in neutral (is that N in an auto?) or is it only if drive is engaged and you are trying to move the vehicle?
This aside when was it last serviced?

It's possible it's the plugs / coil packs, but a lot will depend upon how neglected it is.

It was serviced only a week ago but I don't think they changed the plugs. It's been fairly well looked after and regularly serviced but not especially cherished. It was my parents' car.

I haven't tried the neutral check. I'll give it a go later.

It's given me a bit of grief since I got it just before the lockdown. I do know a couple of garages that will look at it but not for three weeks or so.

Hello,
I think this a known issue, but not very frequent. The following or one of the following seems to help:

- remove the slack in the throttle cable
- clean the throttle body inside
- put very little lubrication oil on throttle flap bearing (outside)
- there is a SB and a software update that any Suzuki dealer should be able to install upon request. This seems to raise the idle revs a little bit.
- use some fuel system cleaner (magic?)

I did the first 3 of them and the stalling was considerably reduced. I still have to do 4 and so far I do not believe in magic.
