Spare Wheel removal was created by Hypertensive Cellist
I have attempted to remove the spare wheel with the wheel brace supplied, no luck. It seems to require a larger wrench. Is an adaptor required?
Many thanks
P

The nut on the spare should be the same size as the nuts on the road wheels. Does your wrench fit those or has the spare nut been replaced by a non standard one?

Could be a locking nut with the hex stainless sleeve still in place. Have a poke about with some pliers. Chris

Manh thanks for the response
The Jimny is a 64 plate.
There doesn't seem to be a chrome cover on the spare nut. Glad it wasn't needed due to a puncture.
Many thanks

The wrench fits the wheels on the ground, too small for the spare.

Do the nuts on the spare appear to be similar in design? If so, can you try a larger socket? If you don't have one, I suggest you go to a tyre outlet and ask for their advice. If the nuts then turn out to be of a larger - socket wise - size, then you need to buy a suitable set of nuts , including locking ones.

Next socket size up over standard 19mm is likely to be 21mm. So thats a standard sparkplug socket, if you haven't got one I bet a neighbour has. Chris

It is conceivable that the nut on the spare is badly corroded. If it appears so then the normal socket could be tapped, with care onto the nut.
