Hi everyone. I have a problem with the automatic transmission of my Jimny 4WD from 1999. Apparently doesn't have the second gear. When the engine is started the car is starting in the first gear, then when the controller decides to swith up to the 2nd the system goes in fail safe mode (3rd gear). I brought the car to an auto transmission specialist worksop nearby, they told me that they will open the transmission and then they will tell what needs to be replaced. Later on they told me that the mounting bracket of the 2nd shift solenoid was damaged, if they'll fix that, after an oil and filter change most likely it will be OK. After all of this nothing has been changed, still no 2nd gear. I went through the manual, I checked the DTC error codes, interestingly it was the 21, first shift solenoid failure. After I cleared the DTC, didn't reappear. Otherwise the car is well maintained, 130000 km only, if it is not necesarry I won't wreck it. Any suggestions?

Welcome to the forum. First have you personally checked the transmission oil level and colour to make sure it has been replaced and is at the correct level?
