Why does he keep calling it a Jeep??? My no 1 pet hate as a die hard Jeep driver, it's not a Jeep. Unless it's got Jeep stamped on the side of it, it's not a Jeep! I don't call my Jeep a landrover, Suzuki or Toyota!

I love both my Suzukis and Jeeps but I cringe when people call their non Jeep a Jeep!

It's a Suzuki, be proud that it's a Suzuki.

Morning rant over, it's a Jeep thing and most people would not understand!!!

Nice review otherwise!

Calling it a jeep just shows that jeep is universally known as a 4x4..
Its like many people called a vaccum cleaner a hoover, yet that is a brand...
People call their 4x4,s trucks too???
A truck - "a large, heavy road vehicle used for carrying goods, materials, or troops; a lorry."

I wouldn't, slightest gust of wind and you would be seriously testing the stability of the suspension.

It used to bug me when people refer to all types of 4x4s as Jeeps, but it doesn't any more. The original Willy's Jeep wasn't officially called a Jeep. The first Suzuki 4x4 was the LJ, which stood for light jeep, similar to the first Toyota 4x4 - the BJ. So calling 4x4s Jeeps actually predates the company Jeep.

A "jeep" is a typical "misnomer" for all all-terrain vehicles in most parts of continental Europe. It's probably because American Willys Jeeps were the first common such vehicles to be seen for many years in those regions after WWII.

It's the same situation as calling every mobile radio station unit a "motorola", or calling every bubbling bath tub a "jacuzzi", or calling every portable music player a "walkman".

Such misnomers are widespread and abundant in many ex-communist countries, because in the communist times, there usually used to be only a single product of a certain type, for decades.

For example, in former Yugoslavia, all tooth pastes are usually called "kaladont", all nougat creames (like Nutella) are called "eurokrem", all meat pates are called "argeta", all molded cheeses for toasters are called "zdenka" etc. So most people over here never say "give me a tooth paste", but they say "give me a kaladont" instead.

All those misnomers are actually brand names of the corresponding domestic products which were usually the only (or the most prevalent) such types of products being available for decades.
