Another bloody tyre question.

My Jimny is a work tool for the farm first and foremost but we have a policy of not driving on the land if it is sufficiently wet as to leave anything more than a bit of a muddy line on the surface. Consequently I have absolutely no reason for chunky tyres, if it spins a rear it's time for 4x4. Also because of work the whole thing is stripped of anything that takes up usable space for carrying stuff with the benefit of when not working it is light. Can you see the obvious direction this is heading? As the car is also my daily and I am an unrepentant hoonigan the Jimny being small and light does lend itself to shall we say a spirited Sunday drive. Now my best Bridgestone is down to about 5mm some of the others are lower and all will be a liability come winter. So finally the point.

What is a good 50 to 70 quid full road tyre in bone stock 205 70 r15 ? Needs to stick like poo on a blanket to tarmacadam and be able to last at least 25kmiles?

Thanks

You can also add to your list, tyres of a narrower width, ie 195/70. They have the advantage of being a little less skittish in wet conditions where aquaplaning is a hazard.

I have to say I have not had any problems with aquaplaning other than when the last set were down to 2mm which is not a surprise. I will look into narrower tyres though, cheers.

Yokohama Geolander. A rated for wet grip and i have pushed them pretty hard in
the dry with no dramas. :) Also good off road apart from deep mud. ;)
