Starting problems

Hi,

I have had my 1999 Jimny for 6 months it has always started instantly when I turn the key. The last couple of weeks sometimes it starts straight away other times I have to crank it over for 10 to 20 seconds pumping the throttle to get it started.

Does anyone know what might be causing this

I always check the simple things first,, take out the plugs, look at their condition, are they grey/brown,, if black there maybe an oil or too much fuel wetting the plugs issue. If plugs are ok, check for clean air filter, good flow of air needed for combustion. Problem nowadays is the electronic's on board, that's the last thing I'd check out. Iridium spark plugs are good for a clean strong spark, try using them too.

I changed the plugs, air filter, engine and diff oil and gave it all a general once over when I got it about six months ago. Will check the plugs for colour.
