Exhaust sytem was created by Flatfendweller
Just had a quote for £500 to replace an exhaust system on a 2005 VVT. Nearly fell over. Then another garage said there are two Cats on the vehicle and they wouldn't do it for less than £550.
I am not a fitter and don't know much about these things - but the system for my Vauxhall Meriva was a little over half the price. Am I being conned??

One cat is in your manifold so unless it's knackered then that shouldn't need changing. If it's the full exhaust grim manifold back you will need 3 sections

1 The cat pipe

2 The link pipe

3 The rear box

Maybe try euro car parts

Thanks for that - if the cat in the manifold is OK then can I get one from ebay - a rear box and centre pipe for £99 (new)? Plus a cat pipe.

Daft question - how would I know if the one in the manifold is gone too?

EBay should do fine. If the cat in the manifold is blocked yt? would have lost power however this would be the same for any part of the exhaust that was blocked. If it's only being changed due to corrosion I'd leave the manifold alone

I haven't noticed a power issue - I think it is corrosion. Mind you, loss of power can be hard to tell to be honest So if the manifold is good then I will head for ebay and buy a rear box and centre pipe - presumably I will need to cat pipe as well? Or will that be in the rear box?
