You could ask Darren at kap suzuki he does loads of trayback pick up conversions from what you can see on his site but for me fibreglass rear panel wouldn't do much for the structural integrity of the passenger cell ok most trays are caged but nice when whats sitting behind and over your head is welded steel

I could make a fibreglass rear section for a jimny that was as strong as a metal one but whats the point it would take a lot longer to make a good job of it then welding it all up like others do

be really expensive too.. as a compromise it could be an idea to have a GRP skin to cover up the welded in back panel.. strength of steel and finish or GRP..

be really cheep for me lol but my thoughts about it is that its just not worth it to make a plug and mould there's still a lot of filling and sanding shaping ect to get a good end product that was made of just fiberglass and not a load of filler and paint so once you have done all that you could just weld it up and there would be no join between fiberglass and metal which you can make good but metal and fiberglass both move and the bond will have a chance to fail or leak,
in summery theres just way to meny reasons not to
I have toyed with the idea of a hole fibreglass body and metal roll cage over it and get rid of the metal body have it as a tray back style fibreglass pod, but I cant be bovered lol
