Im new to this forum and hoping you guys can help me,
ive been asked by my Brother who lives in Madeira if i can get him a replacement exterior plastic drivers side as in uk osf Door Handle, which would be his passenger side as he"s left hand drive ( hope this makes sense )
but seems like im having trouble when it comes to the year of his model as its a 1996,
most only seem to state from 1998 here in the uk,
all i know is that his is a 2nd generation model,
can anybody tell me if his so called 1996 Jimny was known here in the uk for that year as a different name,
or could anybody help in telling me what uk model and year would fit correctly 100%l
Many thanks in advance
Derek.

The Jimny only came out in the UK in 1998. My wife bought one of the first in the country (still going strong!)
Pre 98 it will most likely be an SJ (which my sister owned) I think, although some of the old timers on here might know better.
Not being rude to the guys with lots of years following the Jim of course!

Never considered what the "SJ" might stand for.
As far as I am aware the name Jimny was never used in the UK before 98.

I don't think they were ever sold in the UK in this spec but I guess it would share the same door handle as the SJ...?
