I still really like the look of the hard covers with the chrome surround and a lockable latch.
I know they aren't cheap, but cheaper than an insurance claim if the spare goes missing surely?

We have some ideas for an original graphic too. I have a mate who is a graphic designer so he is going to sort the image for us, and another mate who is a signwriter to print the image and fit it. I just need to know what sort of cover to fit it to!

They do look smart. My spare is junk so likely not the attraction to chummy that some might be. ;)

You can get away with a tight fitting or interference fitting bolt which you have to hammer/press into place and once padlocked the bolt is going nowhere anyway. ;)

my son used to work at formula 4x4 before they went bump and he says the locks on the stainless covers aren't very good as they are easy to break

about three - four years ago 4x4at bought the company off the administrators and moved the stock from Stone in Staffs to Leeming Bar in North Yorkshire and made everybody redundant - they still run the old Formula 4x4 website but from Leeming Bar

Was going to go with helijohn bolt plan as it an elegant and simple solution, however due to price of bolts / padlock adding upto around £15 and the hassle of painting it all went for the bike lock through carrier and "spoke holes" in steel rim.
