How have you made your home made snorkel?
I want to make a snorkel as no ready made one will fit my Jimny due to my cage running down the windscreen pillar that they usually run up.
I don't want it to look like poo either - so nothing is to come from B+Q - no drainpipe will adorn my Jimjam!
I measured the pipe coming off the airbox to be 70mm ED so I need 70mm ID tubing.
It needs to be tough, bearing in mind it's gonna be on the side of the truck and may rub on stuff occasionally - like trees for example - so flexible.
At the moment I have in my mind Marine Exhaust Hose from my internet searching, but I don't know how good this will be at the 90' bend from the airbox up the wing - I've never touched the stuff so don't know how well it bends etc. Anyone know?
Then I'm considering a series of P clips to attach it to the cage and maybe one on the wing and a snorkel top, obviously at the top!
Any advice would be gratefully received.
I have a hose specialist near me that I've never been to but other off-roaders I know have used, so I shall pop into them soon but would like to know what you lot have done for ideas.
I have done a search but the search button gives me 436 posts to read through for snorkels and I don't remember any recent ones!
Cheers

That's one way of doing it, thanks for that Tom. There are a million silicone 90' elbows out there that could come off the air box to the stainless. I'd need a little flexible hose to get it up from the wing to up the windscreen pillar as I'd like it inside the cage then to give it some protection from trees.
The stainless looks far more professional but I fear it's a little vulnerable to damage on the wing like it will have to be. I suppose hard pipe or flexible soft pipe, both are still out there on the side waiting to be damaged and the same would be the case for a proper manufactured plastic one, albeit they might be more resilient.
My drivers side wing is already crumpled!
I'll have to make a decision somewhere along the line between looking professional and not looking too home made V less prone to damage with a bit of cost consideration involved.
I'm sure my fabricator mate could get me a length of 70mm stainless when he orders some steel up.

That's quite nice mate. The less joins the less chance of leaks but I'll have to have flexi hose for the bend to move it inside the cage.
Did you make it yourself?

made it one afternoon bit fiddely, very strong and ive made it so I can fit a cage on to with just moving the snorkel a bit and its easy to just weld abit more stainless pipe in if needed
