As for the MOT issue the strict tester at work( advises bloody hanging air fresheners hanging around interior mirror) said to me you can't fail on tyres not in line with body anymore unless it's deemed unsafe due to shard edges but as they're rubber it should be fine

It's not something the MOT man might have something to say about but it is something the Policeman will have something to say about.
You have MOT regulations and then you have Construction and Use Regulations. You have to comply with both to avoid being in hot water.
