I'm still on standard battery ATM but when winching with it under heavy load you can notice the loss of power but it's not died on me or anything yet just pulls the car instead of what's stuck 
ill get a pic of the front of mine over the weekend with my bumper on and off so you can see why needs cutting a what not for it to be fitted...it's a tight fit between the plate height and the cross member I've had to cut a bit out so I can use the free spool handle of the winch and for the power terminals on the winch

I went with one of the budget winches from winchit on ebay, it was their 12500lb winch and cost me about £275 if i remember righlty, I have used it a handfull of times in very deep mud and have had no problems at all (well except user error and bunching the wire up on one side) it is slow as people state but I am not concerned about that. I only have 1 battery at present but will be adding a second soon.
