New Battery, would you ? was created by happypig
I've not driven for about 3 weeks due to tearing my ankle ligaments. Got in it today to go round the shop and the battery hadn't got enough oomph to start it, barely turned it over. I can jump start it off the wife's car but I'm wondering if the best long-term solution is to get a new battery ?

3 weeks isn't that long. If I had a battery that didn't start up the little beast after 6 weeks of being dormant I'd be concerned. Of course, the cold weather could have taken a strain.

I'd charge it up and see how it goes. You might be lucky. Worth a try before shelling out for a new one.

Is the is fluid topped up in the cells? Mine was almost dry and I wondered why it would go flat!

Mine would be flat in 3 weeks. I have a solar charger permanently connected when parked, and it still needs a go with the optimate every couple of weeks if it doesn't get used.

One of the problems of an alarm system and a teenie weenie battery.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)

That's a very good point facade.

Why on earth is the battery not much bigger than that for a large bike? OK, it's not a big engine, but that's no excuse really. Plus, the tray is too small to replace with a meatier power source.

But I expect some of these clever forum members have welded on a bigger holder. :)

Maybe not a bigger battery (for example the Master Cylinder might get in the way) but certainly another battery located on the otherside of the engine bay to give a duel supply.

I think its done for those with electric winches.

That's another job to do. I'll check the battery fluid levels when the CO decides to bring the Little Beast home later this evening. ;)
