If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

Depends on the engine.
On the twin cam,
first undo both bolts through the power steering tensioner pulley, (the adjuster quadrant and the pivot) then the pulley will push over to slacken the belt, and it comes off.
Then at the alternator, undo the allen headed lower pinch bolt (proper fitting tool) and the hex headed upper adjuster bolts.
The alternator will then turn inwards and free the belt.
The belt will feed through the fan and out.
Fit the alternator belt first, then the power steering belt. The tensioner pulley has a hexagon hole to fit an allen key to tension the belt.

On the single cam g13bb.
Slacken 14mm bolt on pas idler pulley.
Slacken 12mm bolt to remove tension on pas belt.
Remove belt.
Slacken top generator adjustment bolt 12mm.
Slacken 14mm lower bolt.
Pivot generator inwards.
Remove belt.
Slacken 14mm bolt on pas idler pulley.
Slacken 12mm bolt to remove tension on pas belt.
Remove belt.
Slacken top generator adjustment bolt 12mm.
Slacken 14mm lower bolt.
Pivot generator inwards.
Remove belt.
