First gear sticky was created by Chilgrove
Does anyone else find engaging 1st gear a bit hit or miss? If I really concentrate on pressing the clutch hard down then there is not usually a problem but if I forget then often I find 1st has not properly engaged and it pops out. Any ideas, maybe there is some greasing I could do on the end of the gearstick?

Sounds like your clutch cable is stretched. Maybe you should take up the slack you can do this by winding the plastic that goes into the gearbox. Thats what I would do first..

That sounds like a worn syncromesh for first is worn. I have a gear box if you would like one cheap cheap ;)

You have to be nearly at a stop to get it into first in a JimJam but it shouldn't jump out of gear!

Thanks everyone for your words of wisdom. I think first of all I will try the clutch cable adjustment. It only jumps out of 1st when I have not properly engaged it fist time around.
