Replacing the carpet for rubber was created by Bannerbrother
Has anyone every experimented with replacing the carpet for a large piece of rubber the same size and shape (similar to the interior of a landy), for those who would like some sort of comfort and sound proofing without the draw back of retaining water?

I wouldn't bother with rubber as moisture will sit between the rubber and the metal = rust.

Just take the carpet out and get busy with the hammerite - or I'd thought about covering the floor with that flixible loadliner spray stuff - might be expensive though.

I haven't done it yet, but that's my next project for the Jim: proofing the floor. The carpeting is quite flimsy and isn't intended to do any sound proofing, just to look good :) under the carpet you'll find a thick felt (I'd say about an inch thick, from memory) and that's your soundproofing.

I plan to replace it with a material made by a Russian company , which I've used for the loading area floor and was very happy width. It's like a thick sponge with glue on a side (self-adhesive) and some sort of thin metallic sheet on the other side. It's not flammable and it's resistant to water and oils. Full spec sheet is here . The STP VBT could be a good choice also (and probably cheaper).
