Isolating the engine for an oil change was created by DVs-Jimny
How do you guys stop your Jimny firing up once you have carried out an oil change as the filter will be pretty empty until the oils pumped round ?

Personally, it doesnt bother me .... I just turn it over a few times and switch it off as soon as it catches. then, after 3 or 4 turns, just fire it up, and leave it idle, occasionally blipping the throttle until the engine is warm, and im putting things away, and tightening up the sump plug / oil filter when warm.
Others may have different ways of doing it, but Ive been changing oils for the last 20 years and it seems to work for me.

I'm with ooky_123 here - but i also 'prime' my new oil filter (thats put some in it - sort of can be messy) ...

Or, just click/stop-engine/clickstop-engine a few times ... then after that just let oil get around engine before you start revving it!!

After draining oil out, sump plug back in, fold passenger mirror in, place 3 cusions on floor, few mates to ease jimny on it's side, old filter off, fill new one and screw new on, get mates to put beer cans down and give you a lift getting it back on four wheels, then put in new oil by this time the oil in new filter has drained out back into engine.

So as others , be gentle:woohoo: matting faces will have a touch of oil on any way, job sorted

Cant you just unplug the coil pack and remove the fuel pump fuse and then turn the engine over?

I've probably changed oil/filter a hundred+ times ... never ever had a problem - priming the filter was taught me by my father, and his father before that ... BTW, I'm over 50.

I just change the oil and filter and start it up. That's what the white metal is for inside the bearing shells. ;)

They certainly don't worry about it at the dealers or a garage. :blink:

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)
