Recently the site has been crashing with "out of disk space" messages
The key problem seems to be the "session handler" taking all the disk. Every user accessing the site creates a session, including internet bot machines and hackers. Therefore simply continously accessing the site fills the database with session information.
I have therefore had to limit the session times to keep clearing the database. You will therefore now find you will be automatically logged out after 10 minutes of no activity. I know this can annoy people but it is necessary for the health of the site
