Mystery fluid leak. was created by passy
Just been for a short trip, 2 miles, in my 2002 Jimny and have noticed a mystery fluid leak when marked up. Its coming from the rear of the car dripping off both ends of the exhaust silencer box. Its a small drip every 5 seconds or so. It dosen't smell like petrol and is not oil. There is no oil in the expansion tank and no "Mayonaise" on the inside of the filler cap. There is a small amount of fluid in the tail pipe of the exhaust but not excesive. I suspect the fluid is coming from above the silencer box and running down it. Any ideas what I should be looking for first ?

Just had a closer look and the fluid appears to be dripping from each end of the silencer at the welded seams (silencer is about 5 years old) also drips from the tail pipe. no sin of anything above the tail pipe that could cause a leak.

Water is a byproduct of the combustion process, it's usually in the form of vapor (steam), but, can condense to liquid water in a cold exhaust system.
It's not unusual to have water dripping off of the tail pipe if the engine (and the exhaust system) have not reached operational temperature.
