Gday Chris, thanks for info, I started to think the throttle body butterfly might be binding a little , I felt at one point while moving the throttle that it felt like it was binding from the closed position, may be a plate misalignment? May be my imagination.. Ive tried 2 different IAC valves and they both didnt make any difference.
This only happens when its at operating temp, the idle sometimes sits very low, sometimes fluctuates up and down, , and sometimes normal with a slight waver but it always ends up stalling , Pain in neck. Otherwise it drives alright no surging or loss of power.

I did disconnect the IAC terminal and the engine jumped up to high RPM and when reconnected it brought the idle RPM back down. So its doing some work there.

Yes it all sounds very annoying. The IAC is tunable by rotating the magnetic end in the elongated mounting slots (worth a try) and a vacuum leak test or a basic smoke test would be my next choice. I don't like spending money so I always start with the cheap stuff. If you haven't already, get the TB off and give it a Really good clean (see if the dirt is hiding something nasty). Keep at it, Chris
