Axles/Differentials was created by HUN
Hi All.

My Jimny is from 2005. It has M13a VVT engine, R72 gearbox, ABS etc..
Can I fit axles/differentials from a donor Jimny from all year between 1998-2018 or just 2005 and later years? Can I use axle without ABS? Would it pass MOT?
Sorry for my daft questions.

Regards, Gabor

non VVT axles have different diff ratios, but the casings are the same otherwise. if you have ABS then you will need a donor casing from an abs vehicle. Would pass a UK MOT no problem.

For example; I have 2007 vvt axle casings but the earlier non VVT diffs and have no issues swapping parts between them all.

Ideally you are better off with abs axles on an abs car as it's one of the few driving aids actually worth having. Also for the mot it's possible to remove the abs system completely and not get a failure but to have a constant abs warning light on is a failure. There is also the insurance cot notify who will undoubtedly increase the premium.

My current understanding of this subject based on what I could read here and heard from others:

Casing had been made either with ABS or without ABS in the past. I should fit only casing with ABS that's for sure.
After about 2004-2005 the engine was made either M13A non-VVT or M13A VVT.
All (M13A) casing size the same but non-VVT has different ratios. What does it mean? Lower or higher?
And what about axles made before 2004? Was all of them wihout ABS therefore those aren't for me?
How many different variant of axle can be found out there? Four or even more? I just cannot get it...
Educate me please...I feel confused.

Thank in advance.
